About Gearóid Williams

From the town of Kilrush, Gearóid obtained his BCL degree from University College Dublin in 1978. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1979 receiving the Guinness McMahon Prize for Tax and Commercial Law. Gearóid joined the leading West Clare practice of Michael McMahon Solicitor on qualifying.  He was appointed Town Solicitor for Kilrush in 1985.  In 2016 Gearóid completed a Law Society Certificate Course in Decision-Making Capacity & Support following the signing into law of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Bill in January 2016.
Over the years Gearóid has amassed a wealth of knowledge in the area of property law, litigation, trusts, estates and related taxation and planning issues.  He has acted for an extensive range of clients; including Kilrush Town Council, public bodies, trustees, property developers and private clients.  Gearóid handles all legal aspects of complex residential and commercial developments.  Gearóid is a well-known court practitioner and is an experienced litigator in the civil courts, from the District Court to the High Court. Gearóid has successfully represented clients at Kilrush District Court for over 30 years.  Gearoid has a particular interest in Wills and the administration of estates and in advising vulnerable clients, including older clients. Gearóid has extensive experience over a large spread of practice areas.
Gearoid is a Treasurer of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Kilrush. He is a member of West Clare Mental Health Association and he sits on the Board of Management of Kilrush Community School.  Gearoid is also former President of Kilrush Chamber of Commerce.  In his leisure time Gearoid enjoys playing golf and in February 2018 was appointed Captain of Doonbeg Links Golf Club at Trump International Golf Links Doonbeg.
