Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015

Following the signing into law of the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015, Solicitors Gearoid Williams and Aisling Glynn completed a Law Society Certificate in Decision Making Capacity & Support.   The Act reforms Ireland’s capacity legislation which has been in place since the 19th century. It establishes a modern statutory framework to support decision-making by adults who may have difficulty in making decisions.  This recent Irish Times article provides a helpful update on this evolving area of practice.

No doubt you have noticed an influx of emails from various parties including banks, online retailers and airline companies, to name just a few, advising  you of their new privacy policies.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a legal framework that sets guidelines for the collection and processing of your personal information within the E.U.

The GDPR sets out the principles for data management and the rights of an individual, while also imposing fines for non-compliance.  It came into effect across the EU on the 25th of May, 2018.
